To avoid all WHINE-ing, we dedicated this day entirely to visiting the Wine-ries and not trying to fit in a day filled with more than we could possibly manage. So, when the Wineries opened, we were there. Instead of doing an all day trek to several, we focused on one of the nicest ones in the area ... VERITAS.
VERITAS was located only about 30 minutes from us ... on the acreage they also had a B&B, which would be quite nice in the future.
Greeted at the door with Virginia hospitality and guided to our Tasting Area in a no fuss manner. Of course, Frank doesn't drink, so it was my day for the wine and his day for a great lunch.

I tasted 7 wines (5 white, 2 red) ..... Loved the Sauvignon Blanc at only $25 a bottle!
We then settled on the patio and served a delicious plate of amazing cheeses, meats, breads, jams, and chutney. This picture was AFTER we nearly were finished. So delightful. We loved every minute of it.
Nap time soon followed after drinking in the afternoon, but it was a perfect day despite the 90+ degrees outside. It is amazing to find these huge wineries and grape orchards tucked back into the mountains and only accessible through a snake-like road that weaves you through for miles to the center of the mountain. Voila ... an orchard appears.
Today was a nice change ... an important one to our journey as I had never been to a Tasting before and we are trying to do things that are different for us. Even though Frank doesn't drink, he couldn't resist a photo op!
After a delicious evening meal made by Chef Frank that consisted of vegetables purchased at the Farmer's Market ... we headed out to our patio for a little music jam and a cocktail before turning in for the night. All in all, a wonderful visit to Waynesboro, VA and off we go tomorrow to Wytheville.
See you there.
